Canon posts EOS-1D X user guide, updates AF settings info
Canon USA has just posted both a brief setup guide and the full user manual for the EOS-1D X. The company has also recently updated the EOS-1D X AF Settings Guidebook on the Canon Digital Learning Center site, in part to draw distinctions between the 61-point AF system in the upcoming 1-series camera and the EOS 5D Mark III.

NEF Codec 1.14.0 supports D800, D800E
Nikon has updated the list of camera RAW files that can be decoded by NEF Codec 1.14.0 for Windows. Now, both the D800 and D800E are counted among the supported models.

Apple preparing Aperture update with new features, Retina Display support
Apple has revealed the changes coming in Aperture 3.3 for Mac, an upcoming new version of its pro photo management and RAW conversion application that's designed to take advantage of the high-resolution screen in the just-announced MacBook Pro with Retina Display. Other changes include the adoption of a common library shared by iPhoto and Aperture, faster browsing plus several image adjustment improvements.

Apple announces MacBook Pro with Retina Display, more
At the company's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco, Apple unveiled a new MacBook Pro with Retina Display, added USB 3.0 plus made other improvements to the rest of its laptop lineup and showed off the upcoming OS X Mountain Lion operating system for Mac and iOS 6 for iOS devices. Also introduced today was a new Airport Express wireless router and the iPad Smart Case, a new accessory that covers both the front and back of Apple's tablet.

Canon announces touchscreen-equipped EOS Rebel T4i/650D
Canon has unveiled the 17.92 million image pixel EOS Rebel T4i/650D. The follow-on to the EOS Rebel T3i/600D adds a touchscreen rear LCD, faster 5fps burst rate, promised smooth and accurate tracking autofocus during video capture (thanks to the embedding of phase detect AF points within the image sensor itself) and a built-in stereo mic. The new camera's remaining features are otherwise very similar to its predecessor.

Canon unveils STM-series 40mm f/2.8, 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 lenses
Alongside the introduction of the EOS Rebel T4i/650D come two new Canon lenses, the ultra-compact EF 40mm f/2.8 STM and the EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM. The stepping motor focus mechanism in these lenses is promised to enable them to shift focus smoothly and quietly, even when continuously tracking a moving subject in video mode on the T4i/650D.

Canon Canada to dealers: EOS-1D X delayed until July (updated)
Canon Canada this week has begun informing pro photo retailers that initial shipments of the EOS-1D X digital SLR are not slated to arrive until July and that only "a small number of units" are expected at that time. While the Canon email being sent out to Canadian dealers is specific to the Canadian market, it almost certainly signals a worldwide slip in the release of the new camera.

Rollei announces four add-on lenses for iPhone
Rollei has announced European availability of four add-on converter lenses for the Apple iPhone 3G/4/4s. The lenses include 12x and 9x telephoto optics, a .5x wide-angle converter, and a .28x fisheye converter. They mount to the iPhone via a hard case or bracket, which appears to be included with each lens.

GoPro now shipping Wi-Fi BacPac, Wi-Fi Remote
GoPro this week has released two wireless accessories for its GoPro HD Hero and HD Hero2 wearable still/video cameras. The GoPro Wi-Fi BacPac enables remote control, including triggering and settings adjustments, of either camera model using the GoPro Wi-Fi Remote. And, with the HD Hero2 exclusively, remote control, preview, playback and transfer of pictures and video will soon be possible using the upcoming GoPro apps for iOS and Android. The HD Hero2 will also soon support live streaming from the camera to the Web.

GeoSnitch for iOS gathers location data for embedding by ShutterSnitch
GeoSnitch, a new app for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, tracks the position of your device and then creates a geolocation file which can be imported by ShutterSnitch, our longtime favourite iOS app for receiving pictures from a wireless camera. ShutterSnitch then reads the geolocation data and embeds it into corresponding picture files. For ShutterSnitch users, it's a slick and simple way to put location information into pictures within the app's collections. In addition, the files created by GeoSnitch can be read by any other geolocation software capable of parsing .kmz documents, such as Google Earth.
