An analysis of EOS-1D Mark III autofocus performance - Continued
October 31, 2007: Canon Australia, Korea on EOS-1D Mark III sub-mirror fix

Canon Australia has posted a web page containing that sales company's statement on the upcoming EOS-1D Mark III sub-mirror fix. Key bits of information on the page include the affected serial number range, 501001 to 546561, as well as Canon Australia's intention to begin repairing EOS-1D Mark IIIs at no charge towards the end of November 2007.

Canon Korea has posted their sub-mirror fix information page as well. Korea-based photographer Teejay Kim notes the text refers to a rubber part swap in the sub-mirror mechanism and the fact that the EOS-1D Mark III doesn't have to be disassembled to do the repair.

In an interview two weeks ago, Chuck Westfall, Canon USA's Director of Media and Customer Relationship, indicated to us that they were targeting the end of October for the posting of repair details on Canon USA's website for U.S. owners of the EOS-1D Mark III. While the month of October is all but gone, Canon Australia's and Canon Korea's postings today suggest we won't have to wait long into the month of November for announcements to pop up on most or all of Canon's websites worldwide, including Canon USA.

Thanks to Tim Watson, Tim Dig, Georges D. and Teejay Kim for bringing this to our attention.
