40X, 60X SD cards join Lexar lineup
Sunday, February 20, 2005 | by Rob Galbraith

Lexar today has unveiled a new addition to its Pro Series line of camera media, as well as a new Platinum Series of 40X cards aimed at non-pros.

The Pro Series 60X Secure Digital (SD) card will be available in a capacity of 1GB. It will include Image Rescue photo recovery and card maintenance software, as well as a trial version of Camera Bits Photo Mechanic. The ship date isn't specified in a press release.

The company first announced their intention to produce 60X SD cards a year ago.

Lexar also announced that they will ship CompactFlash, Memory Stick PRO and SD cards with a 40X speed rating in the newly-minted Platinum series. Cards will be available in 256MB, 512MB and 1GB capacities. Lexar has been shipping 40X speed-rated cards for some time, but not in all three of these media formats, and not under the Platinum Series name. Ship dates aren't specified in a press release.

Lexar has made a spate of other announcements in conjunction with the kick-off of the PMA 2005 trade show in Orlando, Florida today. These announcements include:
