CIPA forecasts record shipments of DSLR/interchangeable lens cameras
Tuesday, February 22, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
The main trade association for Japanese photography companies, the Camera and Imaging Products Association (CIPA), has issued its projections (pdf) for 2011 camera shipments. CIPA estimates that Japan's camera companies will ship a record 15.5 million DSLR and other interchangeable-lens cameras this year, an increase of 20.2% over the previous record of 12.9 million units shipped in 2010.

CIPA forecasts similarly strong growth for lenses and more modest increases for digital compact cameras.
