Phase One is gearing up to release yet another version of its RAW file browsing and processing software for digital SLR cameras. The new version, dubbed C1 SE, will include many of the PRO version's features, but at a lower cost: at the introduction of C1 SE, the price has been set at EUR/US$199, with a jump to EUR/US$249 after an unspecified period. Unlike other lower-cost C1 releases, this one will support Windows and Mac OS X.
The number of output file formats, the number of files that can be processed in a single batch session and CMYK support are among the differences between SE and its upscale cousin C1 PRO. A detailed feature matrix in PDF format describes the differences between C1 SE and PRO, as well as the LE and Rebel editions of this growing product family. Both SE and PRO versions will support the same range of Canon and Nikon digital SLR models (see the feature matrix for additional camera support information).
Phase One has not announced a release date for C1 SE. It will be available from Phase One dealers and direct from the Phase One web site and its affiliate sites.
