An analysis of EOS-1D Mark IV autofocus performance
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 | by Rob Galbraith
Canon has just announced the EOS-1D Mark IV, a replacement for the troubled EOS-1D Mark III that incorporates a revamped autofocus system and other changes. Because we've not been involved in beta testing the EOS-1D Mark IV we can't give an opinion about whether Canon has successfully addressed the design, manufacturing and calibration problems of it predecessor.

Once we have a production-level EOS-1D Mark IV body to test, and have spent several weeks shooting with it, we will publish an analysis of its autofocus performance here. Based on the camera's late-December 2009 ship date, and the fact we're unlikely to have an EOS-1D Mark IV to try out before the new model is shipping to dealers, look for our analysis to appear sometime in the first quarter of 2010.

Update, February 11, 2010: Our analysis of EOS-1D Mark IV autofocus performance is now online .
