How Bing uses pictures to lure eyeballs from Google

Fast Company has published a short but interesting article on the way that Microsoft's Bing search engine uses background photographs for its main search page. 

Rather than mimic Google's famously simple white-background search page, Bing has decided instead to give viewers an entertaining reason to visit its page. To that end, the company employs a team of photo editors and writers dedicated to finding, annotating, and presenting an interesting new picture, with accompanying factoids, for the search page background every day.
