Paul C. Buff sets up shop in Australia, New Zealand
Friday, October 30, 2009 | by Rob Galbraith
Photo lighting gear maker Paul C. Buff has announced the launch of Paul C. Buff Australia. Sales and service of the company's line of AlienBees studio flash units and accessories for Australia and New Zealand will be handled by new Paul C. Buff agent 1st Line Digital Pty, which is located in the greater Brisbane area.

Land of Oz: The Paul C. Buff Australia website

The AlienBees B400, B800 and B1600 monolights being sold by Paul C. Buff Australia operate at 220VAC. Recycle times, says company founder Paul Buff, are the same as equivalent 110VAC models. (When it's time to replace the included modeling lamp in a 220VAC model, it must be one designed for 220VAC use.)

Update, October 31, 2009: Both the 110VAC and 220VAC versions are now available for purchase from the Paul C. Buff Australia website.

Various other flash and power products in Paul C. Buff's lineup can be ordered through the new Australian operation, even items not yet shown on the Paul C. Buff Australia site. Note that White Lightning monolights, Zeus packs and the Vagabond II portable power unit are available in 110VAC versions only.

While Paul C. Buff Australia's focus will be Australia and New Zealand, they are authorized to sell worldwide (outside of the U.S. and Canada, which remain the home territory of Paul C. Buff in Nashville, Tennessee). Negotiations continue, says Buff, to establish a sales and service base in Germany.
