An ad-hoc photography industry working group has released a set of 15 guidelines designed to "clarify issues affecting accurate reproduction and management of digital image files".
The recommendations and principles are concerned mainly with color management, printing, and submission of photographs for publication. They are called the Universal Photographic Digital Imaging Guidelines (UPDIG), and they were developed by the UPDIG Working Group. This group comprises mostly professional photographers' trade organizations from several countries, including the American Society of Media Photographers, the Advertising Photographers of America, the Canadian Association of Photographers and Illustrators in Communications, and the Australian Commercial + Media Photographers.
The group has also produced two "best practices" documents to help photographers integrate the guidelines into their workflows.
