Drivesavers offers data recovery
Tuesday, March 27, 2001 | by
Drivesavers in Novato, California has been offering data recovery from both Flash memory PC Cards and CompactFlash, as well as the IBM Microdrive, for about a year. The price varies based on turnaround time and the difficulty of the recovery. As an example, Flash memory-based cards up to 999MB in capacity typically cost between US$150 and US$300 to recover, with a turnaround time of 1 or 2 business days (in addition to shipping time). Drivesaver's claims a 90% success rate with Flash memory cards. Because recovering hard drive cards is more complex, and sometimes requires the purchase of 1 or more units of the same drive by Drivesavers to perform the recovery, the company does not quote ballpark figures for Microdrive data recovery, except to say that it is often considerably more expensive than data recovery from Flash memory cards. Drivesavers is also set up to recover digital images from SmartMedia, Sony Memory Stick and floppy disks. For an immediate estimate, call +1 800-440-1904 or +1 415-382-2000. Note that Lexar Media offers free data recovery for pro users of its cards.
