Poynter: Photojournalism in the Age of Scrutiny
Saturday, September 16, 2006 | by Mike Sturk

Poynteronline's Photojournalism in the Age of Scrutiny discusses the controversy arising from manipulated photos in the news in recent weeks as well as the Society for News Design's new ethics guidelines, which are meant to help photographers in making ethical decisions. Various editors comment about the state of photojournalism and the need for such guidance, both in the story by Poynter's Kenny Irby and in a video clip called The Discussion: The Need for a Code. Some striking examples of manipulation and what looks like manipulation are presented.
