Wednesday, May 25, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
Canon has issued a revised schedule for the release of the four new supertelephotos and 8-15mm fisheye zoom it announced last year.

The Canon USA release plan is now as follows:
  • EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM - Late July 2011
  • EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM - Late August 2011
  • EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM - Late August 2011
  • EF 500mm F4L IS II USM - December 2011
  • EF 600mm F4L IS II USM - December 2011
A notice published by Canon Europe shows a similar schedule, though timing of the release of the longest supertelephotos is less precise:
  • EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM - Late July 2011
  • EF 300mm f/2.8L IS II USM - Late August 2011
  • EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II USM - Late August 2011
  • EF 500mm F4L IS II USM - Within 2011
  • EF 600mm F4L IS II USM - Within 2011
The notice says that for the 500 and 600mm lenses a further update will be posted when more exact information is available.
