Camera Raw 4.1 for Photoshop CS3 announced, soon to be released
Monday, May 28, 2007 | by Rob Galbraith
Adobe has issued a press release saying that Camera Raw 4.1, an updated version of the RAW file support plug-in for Photoshop CS3 for Windows and Mac, is now available, though the announcement appears to have come ahead of the actual posting of the software on Adobe servers and is not yet available through Photoshop's own update mechanism.

The press release states that Camera Raw 4.1 adds support for 13 new digital cameras and backs, including the Canon EOS-1D Mark III, Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro, Nikon D40x, Olympus E-410, Olympus SP-550 UZ, Sigma SD14, Phase One H 20, Phase One H 25, Phase One P 20, Phase One P 21, Phase One P 25, Phase One P 30 and Phase One P 45. An entry on the blog of John Nack, Adobe's Senior Product Manager for Photoshop, notes other changes too:

In addition, Camera Raw includes some very cool enhancements to sharpening & noise reduction.  I'll share more details on these shortly; in the meantime, here's a teaser screenshot.  (By the way, all the same controls will be coming to Lightroom soon, too.)

Check here to see if Camera Raw 4.1 is available. A new version of DNG Converter is also expected. Note that Camera Raw 4.1 is not compatible with Photoshop CS2 and earlier.

An update for Photoshop Lightroom's RAW file support is coming "in the near future," says the release.

Update, May 29, 2007, 9:45 AM MT: A message from Adobe's PR agency this morning notes "there has been a slight delay posting the Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw 4.1 update to Adobe.com. This problem will be resolved by the end of the week."
