Hensel Porty 6 and Porty 12 slated to ship in early 2009
Thursday, September 25, 2008 | by Rob Galbraith
The Hensel Porty 6 and Porty 12 Lithium Ion battery powered packs, which are among the lightest and fastest recycling units of their type we've seen, are slated to ship in the first quarter of 2009.

European prices for some of the items in the Porty Lithium system have been set as follows:
(These are probably list prices, which tend to be higher than the actual price at the retailer.)

The Lithium Ion battery itself is rated at 14.8V/6.5aH. Full recharge time is about 1.5 hours. At present, the Porty 6 and Porty 12 can be powered from the battery only, there is no option for switching to AC. Hensel is investigating if the units could be powered from AC, but whether they will ultimately add this feature to the Porty 6 and Porty 12, and if so, whether it will be in the first wave of units, these things are still be to decided.

For more on the Hensel Porty 6 and Porty 12, see these earlier articles:
Also note that while Hensel is estimating delivery of the Porty Lithium packs in the first three months of next year, we've heard from more than a few Hensel gear owners this month, all saying the same thing: Hensel ship dates have a tendency to slip, sometimes a lot. If that's true - we've not paid much attention to Hensel equipment previously and so have no opinion about this - then here's hoping that the company is able to keep to their delivery schedule this time around, since the Porty Lithium system looks like a sweet offering for those who need up to 1200ws in the field.
