Nikon this week has released Capture 4.3 for Windows and Mac.
The new version of the company's RAW file handling application includes support for the D50, incorporates a Color Aberration Control filter (that seems to work really well) as well a Red Eye Correction filter, fixes several bugs and adds a Performance tab that makes it possible to disable the embedding of large previews, aberration correction and the display of the save progress window during processing.
The Capture 4.3 updater requires 4.2 or later to already be installed. The updater is available as a free download on several of Nikon's support sites worldwide, including Nikon USA:
Not changed in 4.3 is the inability to choose an output colour space in Preferences in the Mac version when it's running in OS X 10.4 or later. Nor are there significant speed improvements; the slowness of the application will continue to be a workflow problem for D2X users in particular.
