Shipping of Paul C. Buff Vagabond Mini Lithium starting today
Tuesday, January 4, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
The Vagabond Mini Lithium is about to leave the building. The first units of the 3.5lb/1.6kg portable power pack from Paul C. Buff are being packaged for shipment from the company's operations in Nashville, Tennessee, with the first courier deliveries in the U.S. and Canada expected to arrive on customer doorsteps tomorrow. Though slightly behind the original November 2010 projected ship date, it's also nicely ahead of the late-January shipping projection we reported last week.

Lori Smith, customer service lead at Paul C. Buff, indicates they will be busy fulfilling a tall stack of pre-orders in the weeks ahead. An ample supply of batteries and other components already received or en route means they'll be shipping Vagabond Mini Lithiums steadily and without interruption from here on in, she says. (As of this writing the Paul C. Buff site hasn't been updated to indicate that shipping has commenced, but that change should occur later today, says Smith.)

The Vagabond Mini Lithium features a pure sine wave inverter, user-removable Lithium battery, twin AC sockets and three-stage battery gauge in a compact rectangular case that enables it to be fixed to a lightstand with the included clamp. Paul C. Buff has rated the Vagabond Mini Lithium at over 500 full power pops from a single charge in testing with an AlienBees B1600 monolight set to 640ws. A 5V/500mAh USB A port on the front of the unit allows for iPhones and similar devices to be powered or charged too.

The Vagabond Mini Lithium, including the inverter, battery module and three-hour charger, is US$239.95 direct from Paul C. Buff in the U.S. Additional batteries are US$89.95. It's to be available in both 120VAC output and 230VAC output versions.
