Retail version of Photo Mechanic now shipping
Monday, June 7, 2004 | by Rob Galbraith

A retail version of Camera Bits Photo Mechanic for Mac and Windows, packaged in a DVD-style case with both Camera Bits and Lexar Media logos on it, is now available from participating photo dealers that also carry Lexar products.

At PMA 2004, Camera Bits, maker of Photo Mechanic, and Lexar, announced a distribution deal that would see the photo browsing software made available at a broad range of dealers in packaged form for the first time. Previously, the primary method of purchasing Photo Mechanic was direct from Camera Bits.

Camera Bits continues to sell the downloadable version of the software. To encourage the purchase of packaged version, Lexar is offering a US$10 rebate. Photo Mechanic is expected to sell for about US$150 at retailers, which is the same price Camera Bits is charging for the downloadable version.
