Ready: Nikon D4 firmware update
Nikon has released firmware updates for the D4, D800 and D800E that correct an instance of these cameras locking up while in playback mode, as well as a network/wireless-related bug.

The update for the D4 also fixes an error related to playback zoom, while the updates for the D800 and D800E eliminate the appearance of a dark shadow that could appear at the bottom of frames when these models were set to the 5:4 image area.

Update, May 29, 2012, 20:15MT: Though we were able to install the new D4 firmware without incident, photographer John Onysko reports that he was unable to update his two bodies. One D4 wouldn't recognize the update file on the card at all, he says, while the other could see the file but was unable to begin the upgrade process. So, proceed with caution when attempting to update your camera.
