Photographer posts interesting panoramas of Olympic venues
Friday, February 19, 2010 | by Rob Galbraith
Photographer Kari Kuukka has posted several interesting panoramas showing the Olympic venues at Whistler, one of the host areas of the XXI Olympic Winter Games going on right now in and around Vancouver, Canada. Kuukka used a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and Sigma 8mm fisheye lens to capture sweeping views of Whistler's main press centre as well as several competition sites.

Birds Eye: Kari Kuukka's Olympic panorama web page

The panorama page is in Finnish. The links go the following locations:
  • Maasto-Hiihto - cross country skiing
  • Ampuma-Hiihto - biathlon
  • Mäki-Hyppy - ski jumping (view from the top)
  • Tuomari-Torni - ski jumping (view from the judge's tower)
  • Hyppyri-Pöytä - ski jumping (view from underneath the jump)
  • Suurmäen Kilpailu - ski jumping (large hill overview)
Note that the first panorama won't load until you click inside the frame where it says "Klikkaa tästä eteenpäin." Information about how the panoramas were shot and processed is in an English blog entry by Kuukka.
