Dan Chung publishes "video portrait" shot with Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Tuesday, December 9, 2008 | by Rob Galbraith
Dan Chung, photographer for UK's The Guardian newspaper and based in Beijing, has published a second video with his newly-purchased Canon EOS 5D Mark II. It is, in his words, a "video portrait" of a teenage Chinese basketball player, recorded with Canon's latest digital SLR.

Chung's description of how the project was shot and edited is here, along with a web-resolution version of the roughly three minute long piece. Higher resolution versions, including one at the camera's native 1080p (1920 x 1080 pixels), are available for viewing and download on SmugMug.

Separately, photographer Stefan Sobotta has posted video he captured with the 5D Mark II of lynx at the Harz Mountain National Park in northern Germany, Phil Holland has done the same using the early morning light at a beach in southern California as his video subject while Vincent Laforet has assembled a brief list of microphones and other audio gear that he likes for use alongside the new Canon.

Thanks to Nick Wilcox-Brown for bringing the Chung video to our attention, and to Stephen Shankland for alerting us to the Holland video.
