Camera Raw 3.1 posted on Adobe FTP server
Wednesday, May 4, 2005 | by Rob Galbraith

Though the Photoshop support pages on Adobe's web site haven't yet been updated, it appears that the company has already posted the final version of Camera Raw 3.1 for Photoshop CS2 on one of its FTP servers.

The main changes since v3.0 of the Camera Raw plug-in, which ships with CS2, aren't specified in the download, though it was expected that RAW file support for the Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT/350D and Nikon D2X would be present in 3.1 (and we can confirm that RAW files from each camera can be processed through this new version).

The Windows release is here; the Mac release is here. Adobe DNG Converter 3.1 is also available for download from the same location for each platform.

Note that Camera Raw 3.1 is intended for use with Photoshop CS2 only (though photographer Peter Burian has written us to say that it may also be compatible with Photoshop Elements 3.0). The install location for the Camera Raw plug-in has changed since Photoshop CS as well.

The Windows version must be installed in the following directory to be recognized by both CS2 and the companion Bridge browser:

<hard drive>\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS2\File Formats\

The Mac version must be installed in the following folder to be recognized by both CS2 and the companion Bridge browser:

<hard drive>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/
