Just as new SD cards meeting the UHS-I ultra high-speed data transfer specification are beginning to hit the market, the SD Association has announced the next leap in SD card speed standards—UHS-II.
The UHS-II standard triples the SD card bus-interface specification to 312MB/sec. from the UHS-I standard of 104MB/sec. A further doubling of the newly announced UHS-II bus-interface speed is planned, according to the SD Association.
A press release (PDF) has more information on the specification but offers no hints on when cards meeting the UHS-II standard are expected to become available.
