Apple has announced the AirPort Express, a palm-sized, 7-ounce WiFi base station that's compatible with the 54Mbps IEEE 802.11g wireless networking standard (and backwards compatible with 802.11b gear). Equipped with an Ethernet port, a USB 2.0 port, and an audio port, the AirPort Express can also act as a print server for a single USB printer or as a wireless bridge to extend the range of an existing WiFi network. The AirPort Express is listed on the U.S. Apple Store for US$129 and will begin shipping in mid-July. A quick check showed that it's not yet listed on the Apple Stores for several European countries and Canada.
