Camera Bits has today released Photo Mechanic 4.0.3 for Windows. The main change in the latest update of the pro photo browser is support for the embedding of ICC profiles into digital camera files, as well as optional colour-managed viewing of both thumbnails and previews.
A note on the Camera Bits web site describes the program's colour management capabilities in greater detail:
Photo Mechanic now displays thumbnails and previews with ICC color management (user-selectable preference)! Photo Mechanic also recognizes the Adobe RGB color space for JPEGs and RGB TIFFs from the Nikon D1H/D1X/D100 (Mode 2), Canon 1D/1DS (Martrix 4), and Canon 10D cameras, and can automatically embed the appropriate profile (sRGB or AdobeRGB) during copying or ingesting of JPEGs.
Version 4.0.3 is a free update for most licensed users, and is US$150 to register. See the Camera Bits web site for upgrade details. A trial version is also available. Photo Mechanic for Mac remains at v3.2.4.
