Sandisk CompactFlash prices plummet
Tuesday, February 4, 2003 | by Rob Galbraith

Sandisk yesterday began informing dealers in both North America and other regions of a major price drop on higher-capacity Sandisk CompactFlash cards. Most or all of Sandisk's 256MB and higher CompactFlash lineup is affected, including the company's higher-performing Ultra series.

For instance, the 512MB Ultra CompactFlash card drops from a US suggested list price of US$320 to US$200, a price reduction of about 38% (the actual selling price is set by the dealer, and is often somewhat less than the suggested list price). As a major player in the CompactFlash arena, Sandisk pricing moves like this put pressure on all the leading CompactFlash vendors to follow suit.
