Lexar Media shipping optimized 160MB CompactFlash card

Since about mid-February, Lexar Media has quietly been shipping the 160MB 10X CompactFlash card optimized for use in Kodak/Canon pro digital cameras and the Nikon D1. The pro digital camera enhancements were originally slated for inclusion in a card to be released in the 2nd quarter of this year, but Lexar instead rolled the improvements into the current 10X card. If you've purchased a 10X-rated 160MB card in the last month, chances are it's delivering the top-flight write speed of the engineering prototype I tested in last month's CompactFlash card report.
Several pro dealers in the U.S. are stocking the card, though its apparent popularity and the fact it's produced in small quantities means the card will continue to play hard to get for now.
