New Epson 17 x 22 inch papers headed to dealers
Tuesday, January 30, 2007 | by Rob Galbraith
Three new 17 x 22 inch papers from Epson are beginning to ship. A notice to Canadian retailers from Epson Canada indicates that 25-sheet packs of Premium Glossy Photo Paper (product code S042092), Velvet Fine Art Paper (product code S042097) and Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster (product code S042084) are available for dealer orders. These papers are designed for use in Epson printers that accept cut sheets of this size, including the Stylus Pro 3800 and Stylus Pro 4800.

This marks the first time that Epson's Premium Glossy Photo Paper and Velvet Fine Art Paper have been offered in a 17 x 22 inch sheet, while the Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster 17 x 22 inch pack replaces the earlier Premium Luster Photo Paper of this size in Epson's lineup, says the notice:

The Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster is the replacement sku for the discontinued S041828 Premium Luster Photo Paper 17 x 22. The new sku is an improved coating designed to provide even better D Max with UltraChrome K3 Ink.

In a quick check for these papers at various online stores in Canada and the USA, we found only the Ultra Premium Photo Paper Luster 17 x 22 either in stock or listed at all, so it may be days or weeks before all three new 17 x 22 inch offerings are readily available.

The three papers were announced alongside the Epson Stylus Pro 3800 printer in late-September 2006. A fourth new Epson 17 x 22 inch paper, Premium Semigloss Photo Paper, which we also first heard about as part of the 3800's unveiling, isn't mentioned in the Epson Canada notice and doesn't appear to be available yet.
