It's intended to give photographers and other creatives cloud-based access to their images using any standard web browser. It also serves as a client collaboration and file delivery platform.

Improvements in version 5 include compatibility with HTML 5, new smart content filters, and a redesigned user interface.

SeeFile hosted service plans begin at US$34.95/month for two users; a 5-user plan costs US$64.95/month. For those who prefer to keep their images on their own hardware, the Mac-only web-server version costs US$699 for a five-user license.

Quote from a customer:

"We're excited about the new version, especially the updated user interface and the ability to email a file link to clients. The new SeeFile UI is efficient in its use of screen real estate and easy to understand. We're even able to drag and drop files directly from Adobe Bridge to upload them to SeeFile, which has made it quick to train photo assistants without wasting a lot of time. The developers of SeeFile appear to have listened to studio photographers and then created a complete solution that fits into a professional workflow." (Read more).
