D100 street price expected to be US$2000
Monday, April 8, 2002 | by
Nikon in the US has directed its sales representatives to advise potential purchasers that the expected street price for the upcoming D100 digital SLR will be about US$2000. For US$1999.95, the D100 Set in the US will include the camera body, Charger MH-18, a single Li-ion Battery Pack EN-EL3, USB cable and Nikon View 5 software.

Nikon won't officially announce the suggested list price, or inform the dealers of the price they'll pay, until much closer to the camera's ship date, which is being described as "early summer" by Nikon USA's VP for SLR Camera Systems, Richard LoPinto.

In an email notice sent out this morning, Nikon Canada pegged the expected street price for the D100 Set at CDN$3350. Nikon Canada's web site states that the D100 will "be available by late June."
