Shipments to dealers of the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS have resumed in the U.S., says Chuck Westfall, Director of Media & Customer Relationship at Canon USA.
Production of the L-series lens, which began to ship in late-August 2005, had ceased while Canon sorted out a flare problem with early units. Building of the lens has now resumed and healthy quantities of the lens are departing Canon USA's distribution centres for retailers in that country, says Westfall. Presumably, the lens is also arriving or soon to arrive on the loading docks of dealers in other marketing regions worldwide.
Canon published a service notice in October 2005 advising early purchasers of the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS to bring in their lens for an unspecified repair to address the flare problem. That repair program commenced November 14, 2005.
