NikonWeb: The history of the QV-1000C, Nikon's first electronic camera
Monday, May 23, 2011 | by Rob Galbraith
NikonWeb has published an interesting look back at the Nikon QV-1000C, the company's first still camera to capture pictures electronically rather than on film. Introduced in 1988, roughly 180 units of the SLR-style still video model were made. The QV-1000C had a U.S. manufacturer's suggested retail price of over US$20,000, but despite its lofty price tag the camera was sold at a loss, says the article.
