In its just-launched Mac App Store, Apple has priced a new license of Aperture 3 at US$79.99, or about US$119 less than when the same software is purchased through both online and brick-and-mortar Apple Stores in the U.S. In addition, applications that were previously available only within the iLife suite, including iPhoto and iMovie, can now be bought individually for US$14.99 each.

Aperture 3's price in the Canadian Mac App Store is CDN$79.99. In the UK, 44.99. In Germany, 62.99.

The Mac App Store FAQ says that purchased applications "may be used on any Macs that you own or control for your personal use," no activation keys, serial numbers of registration numbers are required, iTunes gift cards may be applied towards purchases and future application updates will be free.

Access to the Mac App Store requires a Mac running OS X 10.6.6. This operating system version was released today and can be gotten through the Software Update mechanism of OS X 10.6. Once the new OS version is installed, the Mac App Store is accessed by choosing App Store from the Apple menu or by launching the App Store application within the Applications folder.
