Two new Manfrotto tripod series' debut; new bag line to come
Wednesday, February 16, 2011 | by Eamon Hickey
Two previously previewed tripod lines from Manfrotto are now becoming available in various regions.

The 290 series is a mid-duty line of aluminum tripods comprising, currently, two 3-section models. (A 4-section model is mentioned in the product description for the series but none is shown on the Manfrotto web site as of yet.) Availability and pricing vary by region (select your distributor from the drop-down menu at the top of the Manfrotto global web site), but the 290 series is listed on the product pages for Manfrotto US, Manfrotto Canada, and several European Manfrotto distributors at prices in the range of US$110 to US$135 (in the U.S.) and 99 to 115 (in Italy).

The Compact series is a light-duty line of tripods and a monopod designed for travel or other situations where a small tripod is desirable. The tripods come in a kit with a matched head, one designed strictly for still photography and the other designed for still or video use. Like the 290 series, availability and pricing vary by region, but the Compact series is listed on the product pages for Manfrotto US, Manfrotto Canada, and several European Manfrotto distributors at prices such as US$67 (in the U.S.) and 60 (in Italy).

Manfrotto has also posted pictures and specifications for the line of camera bags, dubbed Stile, that the company previewed at Photokina 2010. The bags are scheduled to begin shipping in spring 2011.
