On the previous page, we made the point that the first HyperSync mode provides the fastest standard sync speed, besting a wire as well as all wireless triggering devices we've tried. How high you can go with HyperSync, at least the first mode that doesn't sacrifice strobe brightness, is dictated in large part by the camera's shutter design and sensor size. A fast shutter and smaller sensor are good. A slow shutter and big sensor are not.
The blank wall photos below will show you where this mode of HyperSync ranks relative to other triggering options. All photos were taken with an EOS-1D Mark III, at shutter speeds ranging from 1/160 to 1/500. As you'll see, things don't get interesting with this camera until 1/320. By 1/500, HyperSync is the only triggering option still standing.

The strobe was a Dyna-Lite Arena series pack set to 600ws and driving a 4080SP bi-tube head.
