| Earlier this month, I accepted a photojournalism instructor position at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) here in Calgary. SAIT is home to one of Canada's premiere visual journalism programs, and I'm excited that the teaching of future Canadian photojournalists will be my full-time gig starting in a few week's time. | We were recently alerted to an iOS app called Sun Scout, which superimposes a graphical representation of the sun's future position on a scene captured by your iPhone's camera. If, for example, you are scouting a shooting location, Sun Scout will plot and display the sun's path, for a date and range of times that you specify, on the image of the scene as captured by your camera. |

| LPA Design has posted beta firmware for the Canon versions of the PocketWizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 wireless remote devices. Beta firmware v6.104 adds support for the Speedlite 600EX-RT and Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT. | The Reuters photography blog has posted a story on the remote-controlled DSLR systems the wire service has been developing and will deploy at the upcoming London Olympics. Reuters refers to the systems as "robotic cameras" and while the post is short on details it's clear that the cameras can not only be triggered but also aimed and zoomed remotely. The post includes several interesting pictures of the rigs, including one rafter-mounted unit with a Canon EOS-1D X in place. |
