Mamiya is planning to release a user-replaceable filter for the image sensor of the
Mamiya ZD digital back that will enable it to be used for infrared photography. IR Photo Filter YD401, which installs in place of the standard
IR Cut Filter YB401 that comes with the back, is to land on dealer shelves in mid-February 2008 in the U.S. at a street price of US$424.
A press release notes that in conjunction with IR Photo Filter YD401, users "will need to add an infrared filter (89B or 87) on the front of the lens to produce typical infrared images with dramatic dark skies, glowing greens and 'magical' skin tones."
