Adobe has released Camera Raw 4.3, an update to its RAW conversion plug-in for Photoshop CS3 that adds support for the RAW files from the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III, Nikon D300, Nikon D3, Olympus E-3 and more. This update also makes official the plug-in's support for RAW files from the Canon PowerShot G9, and should also restore compatibility with Canon EOS 40D full-resolution CR2s shot with firmware v1.0.4 installed. The same changes are in Lightroom 1.3, which is also out today.
In addition, Canon's sRAW format - a reduced-resolution RAW option found in the EOS 40D, EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III - is now supported, as is the compressed RAF format found in certain Fujifilm cameras, and a processing problem that could lead to edge artifacts has been corrected.
Both
Mac and
Windows versions of Camera Raw 4.3 are available for download. Camera Raw 4.3 can also be downloaded in a bundle with DNG Converter for
Mac and
Windows.
Lightroom 1.3 for
Mac and
Windows incorporates the same RAW file support and RAW processing changes, adds compatibility with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard in the Mac version and more. See the
Read Me for additional information. Adobe has also released a
preview version of an SDK for developers that will enable them to create export modules for Lightroom 1.3.
As of this writing, the Adobe Updater feature of Photoshop CS3 and Lightroom isn't showing these updates, but they can be downloaded via the links above and installed manually in the meantime.
