| Sigma DP1 compact camera incorporates SLR-size sensor |

First unveiled in September 2006, the Sigma DP1 is a compact digital camera whose Foveon X3 4.69 million image pixel sensor is the same as that found in the company's SD14 digital SLR. This makes the sensor many times larger than is typically found in a point-and-shoot, which should result in picture quality that is a cut above as well, despite the relatively low pixel count by today's standards.
The DP1 features the equivalent of a 28mm f/4 lens, RAW, JPEG and movie recording, 2.5 inch (diagonal), 230,000 pixel rear LCD, SD/SDHC slot, USB 2.0 and video out ports and both a built-in flash and hot shoe.
