HP in the United States has launched an aggressive campaign to entice owners of other brands of wide-format inkjet printer to make the switch to one of HP's new 8-ink or 11+1-ink printer models. The
HP Extreme Upgrade program offers a rebate of between US$500-US$1000 plus between US$300-US$500 worth of paper when a Designjet Z2100- or Z3100-series printer is purchased.
While officially part of HP's ongoing series of trade-in programs, the HP Extreme Upgrade doesn't require that the photographer's current 17 inch to 44 inch colour inkjet printer be sent to HP. The program terms note that the serial number from that printer must be provided to HP, however, along with a proof-of-purchase invoice and a print made with the printer.
The
HP Extreme Upgrade program runs from February 1, 2007 to May 31, 2007 and applies to purchases made in the program period. Complete program terms are
here. This program is being offered only in the USA.
