Tamron has announced the SP AF 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di II LD Aspherical [IF] lens for APS-C format digital SLR cameras (it does not cover image formats larger than 24mm x 16mm). The lens will be available in Canon, Nikon, and Konica Minolta mounts.

A Tamron press release states that the lens will ship in "spring 2006" but does not give any pricing information.

Update, 4:13pm EST, February 16, 2006: A Tamron USA web page describing this lens shows a suggested list price of US$763.95 in the U.S.
