On the web site of The New York Times is a 2004 slideshow of very early color photographs taken from a photo book called Bound For Glory. The images, which provide an unusual color glimpse of an era we're used to visualizing in black-and-white, were taken on the then-new Kodachrome in the late 1930's and early 1940's by documentary photographers working for the U.S. Farm Security Administration. They are part of a collection of 160,000 photographs held by the U.S. Library of Congress.
