Canon today has announced the addition of five new photo printers to its PIXMA printer line.

The Canon iP5200R, iP5200, iP6600D, iP6220D and iP6210D all use Canon's new dye-based ChromaLife100 inks for promised greater print longevity than with existing Canon dye-based inks and three of the five models incorporate status lights that warn of low ink levels or an improperly-installed cartridge.

The iP5200R can be connected to a wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi network and is a replacement for the iP4000R, our home office text (and some photo) printing workhorse for the past 10 months.

All of the new PIXMA printers have an 8.5 inch wide carriage; Canon has not announced today any new 13 inch wide carriage photo printers.
