| Photo agency for "citizen journalists" launched |
| Friday, August 5, 2005 | by Eamon Hickey |
 |
A recently founded U.K. photo agency called Scoopt aims to make a business of licensing the publication rights to pictures taken by everyday people, especially those made with camera-equipped cell phones.
Scoopt is set up to receive images from camera phones via Multimedia Messaging Service or mobile e-mail, as well as by web-based upload.
Although the front page of the site bears a "beta v0.1" logo, the agency appears to be signing up members and soliciting photo editors.
