Nikkei Electronics Asia Online has published an article that offers a general overview of recent innovations that have given CMOS image sensors the edge over their interline-transfer CCD counterparts.
According to the article, the needs of the cell-phone camera market are driving the improvement in CMOS sensor image quality, but the benefits have also been applied to products such as Nikon's D2X.
