SanDisk today announced CompactFlash and SD cards designed for military, automotive and other embedded or specialty uses that appear to be ruggedized versions of the Extreme III and Ultra II (MLC) cards the company unveiled at Photokina 2004. The industrial grade and standard grade flash memory products feature enhanced reliability and durability specifications.
Separate press releases cover the CompactFlash and SD announcements; we're endeavouring to find out from SanDisk if our hunch about these cards being offshoots of the Extreme III and Ultra II (MLC) is correct.
We'll publish more information when we have it.
