Nikon has announced a group of gadgets, collectively known as the Nikon Digiscoping system, designed to adapt the company's digital cameras to its fieldscopes.

One model, the FSA-L1, allows you to use a Nikon ED82 series fieldscope as a 1500mm super-telephoto lens (the 35mm equivalent) on any Nikon digital SLR. The FSA-L1 also works with other Nikon fieldscopes which yield different equivalent focal lengths.

Other devices in the system adapt Coolpix 5200 and 4200 compact digicams to Nikon's fieldscopes.

Nikon's press release gives an unusual amount of useful compatibility and usage information for the system but does not give pricing or availability.
