Wilhelm Research has published the results of its accelerated-aging longevity tests of 4 x 6-inch prints made with a variety of compact printers and digital minilabs.
The tested models include inkjet, dye-sublimation, and standard silver-halide printers from Epson, Canon, Kodak, Olympus, HP, Fujicolor, and Agfa.
Wilhelm's findings suggest how important print method and media can be: from worst print life to best, the estimates span the range of 4 to 115 years.
