Upcoming CompactFlash cards in Lexar's Professional Series will incorporate encryption technology designed to secure the contents of the card from unauthorized access.

The first digital camera to support this technology will be the upcoming Nikon D2X.

A Lexar press release has more information. The encryption-enabled cards and accompanying software are expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2004.
