Mac users, take note: if you own an external FireWire 800 hard drive built around the Oxford 922 FireWire bridge component, connecting it to a computer running OS X 10.3 may result in severe data loss on the external drive.
The solution is to upgrade the firmware in the drive from 1.02 to 1.05, which some external drive vendors are now making available. Several Mac news sites are covering this problem in detail, including Macintouch.
