The street price of the Canon EOS-1D in Canada is expected to plummet this week from about CDN$6000-6200 to about CDN$4700-4900 at reputable pro photo retailers, with Canadian Canon Professional Services (CPS) members able to purchase the camera for several hundred dollars less than that.

This brings the purchase price of Canon's news and sports digital SLR in Canada significantly closer to the typical asking price of US$2900-3000 in the US, though the camera remains somewhat less expensive south of the Canadian border.
